Kara, Caleb, Evan's Grad Party '09$BlogItemTitle$>
So I haven't been keeping up with my blog lately, but that is because I have been so busy lately with Kara, Caleb, & Evan's grad party. Actually I didn't even know that the party was for Evan until the party, aka last night. I didn't know Evan, so that wasn't really a shocker that I hadn't known about him, although he wasn't on the invite. That doesn't really matter, all that matters is that it was an AWESOME party and everyone had lots of fun!
The Preparation...
...began when I first found out about the party. When Kara told me about the party I first just became very excited and didn't do much for it, because it was a couple months ahead. Once it got to a month before the party that is when the action began to take place.
The Dress
First it was buying the dress. Me and Kara spontaneously decided to go dress shopping for the grad. It happened so fast I hardly knew what was happening. We were both just texting back and forth, while I was at school, and then decided to go shopping that day for a dress. Since I was still in school we had to wait till I was out, but I got to leave early from class because I had a test/final last block and I finished it in ten minutes so my teacher let us leave class after we were done the test. I actually got to the mall an hour earlier then Kara. While I waited for her I decided to get a Vanilla Bean Frappuchino with a shot of Espresso and Caramel, which Kara introduced me too.
Once Kara got to the mall I had finished my delicious frappuchino and we went on a search for a dress. We went to a few stores but walked out right away. Finally, we decided to go to Le Chateau. When we were at Le Chateau Jonathan joined us, to just chill. There I tried on many dresses, some pretty nice and some just plain crazy, but none that were what I wanted. They were all either too loose, too tight, too weird, and they were all just way too PRICEY. I did not want to spend over $100 dollars on a dress that I would only wear once to a party. I wanted a dress that I could wear for the party, convention, and meetings. Finally, after trying on multiple dresses and taking many pictures we decided to leave the store and go to another one. We had only a few minutes left because I had to be home soon, for our family study.
We went to one more store and found the PERFECT dress, well almost perfect. Let's just say the most comfy, multiple use, black dress. It was perfect! It was a plain black stretchy dress that was casual but since it was black it looked more formal. They had more then one color. The other colors looked more casual, and Kara loved the dress so much that she decided to buy one herself.
After that we headed towards that sky train. As we were walking to the doors there was a Booster Juice Store. I have never had Booster Juice and since Emily works at Booster Juice I wanted to try it. So we went to get a Booster Juice. I had no idea what to get so Kara helped me decide what to get. I got a Sonic Soy, I think, and then Kara insisted on getting me a WHEAT GRASS SHOT. It happened so fast I had no idea what was happening. She just told me that she was going to get me a wheat grass shot and then bought it. I had no idea what she was talking about so I was like, "um, yeah, sure, okay". Then the next thing I know is, I see one of the girls behind the counter cut up some grass and blend it together. Then they pour the green liquid into two tiny plastic shot cups and then put it on the counter. Then the next thing I know, I AM SUPPOSE TO DRINK THE GREEN STUFF! So Kara and I take a shot of wheat grass together and then a shot of orange juice, to get the bad taste out of our mouth. The wheat grass didn't taste so bad, it just tasted a lot like grass!
After our little wheat grass adventure I had to hop onto the sky train home.
The Hair...
...was the next to be done. A few days after the journey to wheat grass dress shopping Ardelis came over to show me what I could do with my hair for the party. She came over EARLY after school, which is very unusual for her, so I was not prepared for her to be there, but it was awesome that she was early. When she got here we just chilled for a bit while Ardelis checked her emails and we let my hair dry, from the bath I just had. Once my hair was mostly dry we went up to my room to try different hair styles. She showed me a few but we decided the first one she did was the best. It was a braided bun with ribbon in it that you tied into a bow.

After we decided that this was the best choice, we decided to straiten my hair just for fun. It took two and a half hours to do! It started to get very late, around 10, and it was a school night, so my dad started giving us warnings that Ardelis had to leave. We had originally planned to do our watchtower together, so we ended up doing it while Ardelis straitened my hair. Ardelis didn't leave until 10:30 pm. But it was totally fun and worth it.
The Gifts
Kara
In between buying the dress and doing my hair I went to a stationary store with my friends, from school, at lunch. When I was there I was looking at the cards and found a card that I thought Kara might like, but I didn't want to buy the first card I saw so I kept looking but I found myself always going back to that same card, so I decided to buy it. When I was at the store I saw a really cute photo album that I thought Kara might like but I decided not to buy it.
A few weeks later, as it gets closer and closer to the grad party I am Zellers and decide to buy Kara a collage photo frame. When I get home I go through photos to choose which ones should put in the frames. After a couple of hours of going through photos, editing, and picking the best ones I finally decide on seven photos to go into the seven photo frames. The next day I go to Superstore to get the photos printed but the computer will not let me print the photos to the specific sizes I need. The next day I decided I would take the photos to London Drugs to see if they could do it, but London Drugs was even worse. They printed the photos into a tiny square on the page, which I had to pay for.
So, finally, after all this running around I decided that I would go back to the stationary store, buy the photo album, and then go back to Superstore and get regular 4 x 6 photos to put in the photo album. I decided to stick to the photos I had originally chosen and thought I would leave the rest of the album open for Kara to put in her own photos.
Caleb
When I went gift shopping for Caleb, I had no idea what to get him. I thought to get him an Elton John CD, but then found out that he had already 42 albums! There was one album that he wanted but I couldn't find it.
When I was looking for a card for Caleb I wanted to find a Star Wars or Star Trek card, but I couldn't find any, nothing even close to it. I ended up buying him one of those music cards that play a song when you open it up. It was a graduation card that played the song "celebrate good times" song.
Pictures
Another thing to prepare for the party was a surprise slide show for the party, that Betty, Kara's mom, was planning. We had to get the pictures to Betty by Wednesday, week of the party, so that she could put it together. Since I had been so busy with the school year ending, exams, dentist appointments, and gift shopping I had no time to go through pictures. Finally, on Tuesday I got around to going through the photo albums. I found some photos, but there was a problem. I had to work that night and our scanner was not working, and I could not mail the photos to Betty, because they would get there too late. Since I had to work I had to wait till after work to go through the photos. I decided to send photos that I had on my computer, but then I remembered that I had baby photos on Facebook. So I decided to send my pictures from Facebook and computer to Betty. Finally, after a few hours of being on the computer I sent the photos to Betty and went to bed at midnight, with an exam that next morning at 8:30.
The Party...
...was a hit. It was an amazing party. It was the theme of Black & White Formal and it was a dance party. At first we all just talked and chilled. It was lots of fun. There were some new people that I had never met before, so that was a bit awkward, but near the end of the night we started up a game called the "Circle of Trust". It was a good ice-breaker game, but we didn't start it until the end of the party. It was a great idea and glad some one started it, but it would have been great if it was the first thing we did when we got there, so that we could get to know everyone.
The food was amazing! I loved that it was so professional. It was more I "adult food" you could say. The food was more appetizers - hor'douves, canapes, & munchies. There was a great selection, and I needed food in me, but I could not eat. I can never eat at parties. Its a shame because there is always a tonne of food at parties, but when I am at a party I am always either too anxious, excited, or feel awkward eating there, usually it's mostly too anxious or excited, rarely awkward, unless it's at a party I have no friends at. Also most of the time I am too busy dancing or talking to people. This time it was a little bit of all of that. I had so many mixed emotions going, because I hadn't seen everyone in so long, I was just excited to see everyone again.
Overall the party was amazing and can't wait till the next one. :D
